North Notts Lions & LCIF

Contact us by email:

North Notts Lions area extends from Misson/Misterton in the North to

Wheatley/Leverton in the South. From the Trent in the East to Bawtry/Barnby Moor in the West.

The main focus of our work is local. We fundraise locally,  you may have seen the Xmas float out in your area in December bringing Santa to see all the children.  Santa also visits disabled people in their own homes. We run raffles for hampers and Easter Eggs.  We also put on local Race Nights  and a  Golf Day each year to fundraise.  In short, we are open to any idea that will allow us to fundraise to support our work.  We are totally self supporting and so we are proud to say that every penny we raise goes into the local community with around 10% going to support LCIF in their effort to bring relief to the worldwide community.

North Notts Lions

serving your community for

approaching 50 years

North Notts Lions Club was formed in 1969. It was one of the first Lions Clubs in this area. Each club is completely autonomous in its own area and carries out charitable works there. For larger projects we may join forces with other clubs local to us to generate the necessary funding. At the international level clubs worldwide contribute as they see fit in response to appeals for aid (tsunamis, earthquakes, etc) via our Lions Clubs International Foundation or LCIF for short.

"Sight First Program"

285 million people are estimated to be visually impaired worldwide: 39 million are blind. About 90% of the world's visually impaired live in low-income settings. 82% of people living with blindness are aged 50 and above (WHO figures).

In other words across the world the equivalent of half of the total population of Great Britain are totally blind.

In West Africa there is only one eye Doctor per million people.

Last year North Notts Lions prepared a DVD which was played in Schools and Opticians' waiting areas. Aimed at educating people and encouraging them to do all they can even if this is just collecting old spectacles which we will then send to those in need across Africa and Asia.

We aim to do even more in this our centenary year.  We will be filming Lions as they go about raising money to support Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) in our “Sight First Program”.  In the first 15 years of our “Sight First Program” LCIF has prevented blindness in over 30 million people.  By 2008 we had raised over 200Million $US.

Since 2008 many more millions have been added to this total.

Lions Give Sight

By conducting vision screening, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease, Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all.  Lions have extended their commitment to sight conservation through countless local efforts and through their International "Sight First Program", which works to eradicate blindness.
